Forster Multisport Festival - 14th and 15th of November 2009
Multisport Solutions was represented by a large contigent of athletes at Forster. Athletes raced across the full spectrum of events on offer during the weekend. Congratulations to everyone, it was a fantastic weekend!
Clinic two commences the 11th of January 2010 and will be working towards completing or competing the Herald Hill Harbour 10km or Half Marathon on the 4th of April.
The Clinic will run Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday mornings from 6am from the Foreshore and or Merewether.
Lauren Parker kicked off the weekend with a win in the Ocean Swim and continued to give her teammates a great advantage during the Sprint distance and Long Course triathlon on Sunday.
Tahnee Lawrence enjoyed her first race this season. A penalty on the bike did not slow her down as she was rewarded with first place in her category.
Alana and Chris Dawes battled it out in the Enticer Triathlon. Both were concerned about the swim leg however they overcame any fear to win their categories respectively.
The Pro Tour is always a highlight with fast and furious racing. MSS had three athletes in the mens race; Gareth Bannon, Bryce Fernley and Will Dawes. The boys fought hard and even a wrong turn on the bike leg did not stop Gareth placing 5th overall. Will and Bryce raced exceptionally well against athletes older and stronger than themselves.
Steph Auston started in the womens Pro Tour race. Steph has worked on her swim and was in the front bunch out onto the bike. Steph's run leg was still as strong as ever keeping her with the leaders. Steph finished 2nd accross the line, however due to a technicality all the women in the race were disqualified! Better luck next time Steph!
The Long Course race was a hot affair with the temperatures soaring into the mid 30's. Gareth backed up from the Pro Tour event on Saturday to have a great race. Gareth led his age group from start to finish, a blistering run leg capped off a great weekend for Gareth.
The run leg of of the day was an interesting affair with Brad Fernley, Steve Hamilton and Aaron Lean (in a team) all jockeying for the lead. In the end it was Steve who outran the others with a great run and finishing 3rd in his age category. Brad soldiered on after suffering a severe cut to his leg during the week to also claim 3rd.

2009 ITU Triathlon World Championships, Gold Coast
During a weekend that exemplified their long time slogan "Queensland - beautiful one day, perfect the next" the Gold Coast provided the backdrop for a hard fought and exciting series of racing at this years World Championships.
Multisport Solutions athletes Margaret Macdonald, Richard Stock & Dennis Parker donned their 'fighting gloves' and sparred with the best in the world in the Sprint, Sprint and Olympic distance events resepctively.
At the end of the '3 rounds' Margaret finished 20th, Richard 34th and Dennis 50th in their respective age categories. All three fought hard and with all their energy and I'm sure all can attest to the high level of competition on the day.
Full results can be found at the ITU website and to view each of the athletes in action click on their name above.
Stephanie Auston - Triathlon NSW Under 19 Female Athlete of the Year
Steph's hard work and dedication paid off with just rewards by recently being named Triathlon NSW's Under 19 or ITU Junior Female Athlete of the Year. Steph managed to combine her training and Year 11 schooling commitments to have a succesful first year in triathlon.
Steph looks like continuing down that pathway both during and after her Higher School Certificate as demonstrated by her recent win at the NSW Combined High Schools Cross Country Championships.
Only Steph's imagination will hold her back from success next year once finishing her HSC!
